Myofascial Decompression (Cupping)

Myofascial Decompression ("cupping") is an effective tool to release tension in the muscles and fascia.  Selecting this service means that you want ONLY cupping for your session - there will be minimal hands-on work.  Cupping is incorporated in other treatments at no charge.  The cupping-only service is designed as a supplement to regular massage appointments, or for very specific work on chronic areas.  I have a variety of cupping techniques that are effective:

  • Dynamic cupping - gliding one or more cups over the body to release adhesions.  This leaves minimal discoloration on the skin, if any, but still provides the therapeutic benefits of cupping. It feels wonderful!

  • Static cupping with muscular activation - great for those with "stuck" shoulders & neck pain! I place the cups in specific locations around the affected joints and guide the joint through range of motion and muscular activation.  This treatment can dramatically improve range of motion in 10 minutes or less.  **Please note that you will likely have some circular, reddish marks for a few days after treatment.  The marks are typically not sore or tender.

  • Static cupping - the cups are applied in one area at a time for up to 10 minutes.  This therapy provides a great way to release trigger points.  The cups can also be applied along meridians to target accupressure points for a variety of ailments - carpal tunnel, sciatica, thoracic outlet syndrome, etc. **Please note that you will likely have some circular, reddish marks for a few days after treatment.  The marks are typically not sore or tender.

Integrated Massage & Rehabilitation Treatment

Designed to overcome chronic conditions and pains, this treatment assesses the physical imbalances in your body and recommends a series of customized at-home stretches and exercises.   If you find yourself developing poor posture or seeming to always have the same trouble area, this treatment is for you. This session includes muscle testing, a 60-75 minute massage, and targeted exercise guidance. Please wear comfortable clothing for the exercise portion.  All assigned exercises are designed to be completed with your own bodyweight and/or the included resistance bands, no gym equipment needed!

Testimonials

Janelle is an awesome massage therapist! I have back problems and she has great attention to detail when finding my trouble areas and working on them. I would highly recommend her!

Fantastic! I’ve been to massage therapists all over the world... and I now realize I was just bandaiding the problems... Janelle works with you to HEAL your muscular issues. Love her approach and so excited to have her on my path to recovery.

Janelle listened to and addressed my concerns. She was able to apply just the right amount of firm pressure where needed but also incorporated stretch and range of motion at my request. Not many therapists can do that well, but Janelle nailed it!
